Stellar Music 46 : NIC LIU (This Is Not a Rave London, Love International)

Besides currently working in record label Love International, DJ Nic Liu is also one of the creative partners behind East London shindig 'This Is Not a Rave'. While performing alongside luminaries Tomoki Tamura of Saw Recordings and Mikki Most from Trailer Thrash, he's gone ahead to tear the place apart in clubs such as Aquarium (Old Street), The Egg (King's Cross) and Hoxton Pony (Old Street).

Nic will be headlining alongside Stellar Music founder Keishi in the Digital Disco tour at Club 9 and SiX Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (20th March 2009) and at Hacienda in Singapore (27th March 2009).

Nic Liu started DJing at Image in Nottingham, England: with a Thursday club night called “Our House” inviting local guest djs and international guests. The success of this clubnight led to guest appearances of “Our House” in Nottingham’s Pelham’s + Market Bar.

In 2008, he moved to the East End of London and with him came “Our House” to ‘Exit’ in the hipster area of Shoreditch. This one year residency and hosting of the crazy sunday night sessions, led to Nic teaming up with a group of upcoming East End djs to form This Is Not A Rave.

This Is Not A Rave has went from strength to strength and has been tipped for big things in London during two thousand and fine. The first party was held at Aquarium Club, Old Street in October 2009, which was such a resounding success Nic + his crew were asked to keep going for the Redlight after party until 9am the following day.

The next party was a massive success, the This Is Not A Rave Christmas party at the Egg on Sat 13 Dec with Nic having the honour to play alongside Tomoki Tamura from Four Twenty and SAW recordings. The third party had BBC radio 1 dj Andy George and Mikki Most from Trailer Trash. Keep an eye out for This Is Not A Rave @ the Egg club Kings Cross and 333 in Shoreditch.

Amongst these parties Nic has also played in the Hoxton Pony alongside Dj Sonny, S CafĂ© with Matt Jam Le Mont, Kensington’s Twenty Club and recently became a new resident at new club night WORD with Boombox resident DJ Rokk in the Bar Music Hall.
